Weather caused more than 30-car wreck on I-696

Highway reopens Sunday afternoon after being closed

WARREN, Mich. - The wreck that involved more than 30 vehicles Sunday morning on Interstate 696 near Groesbeck Highway was caused by the icy conditions of the road.

Salt trucks were working on making the area safe for travel.

Authorities are cleaning up after the wreck and say they aren't aware of any major injuries.

I-696 was closed at the site of the crash, but has since reopened.
