WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - White Lake Township Police Department are investigating a murder-suicide.

Police say received a call about shots being fired Monday night on Danforth Street, after a boy ran out of the home to a neighbor's house for help

Sources tell Local 4 that once inside the home; police discovered the bodies of a man and woman.

Neighbors say the couple moved into their lake front home about two years ago. Todd Markwart says he knows almost everyone on this street.

"Those are the only people I didn't know. They were never out. I've never seen them," he said.

The neighbor who called police says a young boy, about 7 or 8-years-old knocked on his door and told him about the shooting.

"We are extremely, extremely thankful that child wasn't injured. Not sure exactly what the child saw, if anything, but the child ran to a neighbor to indicate there has possibly been a shooting," said White Lake Township Police Chief Edward Harris.

Investigators say the man shot his wife multiple times and then shot himself in their bedroom while the child was in the home.

Neighbors are shocked that this happened in their quiet neighborhood.

"It is a pretty tight knit community. I can't believe something like that would happen," said Markwart.

Police say they are now talking with the couple's relatives and friends to see if they were having any marital problems.

On the night of the shooting investigators say the couple had been fighting.

"We don't have any history of calls there, any similar disturbances there. The child did said they were arguing and that she was going to take him to his father's," said Harris.

The child is now said to be doing well and is with his biological father. Police didn't immediately release the victims' names or any other information about the situation.

What happened in White lake Township was just one of three deadly incidents targeting women in just a 12 hour span across Southeast Michigan.

Overnight, a murder-suicide took place in Inkster. In that case police say Tony Bailey stabbed his wife Cindy to death.
