BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 31-year-old Waterford woman was arrested Saturday on accusations that she stole nearly $1,000 worth of items from an Ulta store in Bloomfield Township, police said.

Jennifer Ortiz walked into the Ulta on Telegraph Road at 6:57 p.m. Saturday and put several items into her bag, police said. She left the store with about $914 worth of items and didn't pay for them, police said.

Store employees called police, and Ortiz was stopped in the parking lot. Police said she ignored the officer's commands and tried to pull away when he caught up to her.

Ortiz was arrested and arraigned Thursday on charges of retail fraud and resisting arrest. She is being held on $5,000 bail.

She is expected to return to court Sept. 12.
