Authorities say a car speeding along Michigan Avenue early Saturday morning collided with another car which then struck 35-year-old Paul Pesola, of Pelkie, which is northwest of Marquette.

Pesola was knocked over an 8-foot fence and onto the grounds of the former ball park. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tiger Stadium opened in 1912 as Navin Field. The Tigers left for Comerica Park after the 1999 season. The last portion of the old stadium was demolished in 2009, but people still use the field.
