Woman leaves 2 young children in car while gambling at Detroit MGM Casino, police say

3-month-old girl, 2-year-old boy left alone for almost 2 hours

DETROIT – A 27-year-old mother is in custody, accused of leaving her 3-month-old daughter and 2-year-old son in a locked car while gambling at MGM Casino overnight.

Police said the windows were slightly cracked and covered with blankets while the children were in the car for almost two hours.

"You leave a toddler and an infant in a car ... Many terrible things could've happened to these young children," Chief James Craig said.

Someone in the parking garage saw the two children and notified security.

The mom eventually arrived back to the car just before 12:30 a.m. morning and was arrested. The children are now with their father.
