Woman throws phone at HR manager, trips her after getting fired for poor work in Troy, police say

Southfield woman faces possible assault and battery charges

A woman is accused of throwing a conference phone at an HR manager after being fired. (WDIV)

TROY, Mich. – A 24-year-old Southfield woman attacked a human resources manager in Troy after being fired from her job for poor performance, police said.

The human resources manager had a meeting with the employee Nov. 8 and told her she was being fired because of her performance.

When the woman heard the news, she got upset and threw a conference phone at the manager, striking her in the left shoulder, police said.

The victim said the former employee struck her in the back and stuck her foot out, tripping her as she tried to leave the room.

Officials said the manager plans to seek criminal charges against the former employee for assault and battery.
