Woman's body found in plastic container in Southwest Detroit alley

Sources say no indication victim is missing Farmington Hills woman

DETROIT – A woman's remains were found Monday in a plastic container in a Southwest Detroit alley.

Police said the woman's body was found in an alley near Majestic Street and Central Avenue. Neighbors who live in the area said it's sad that this type of discovery happened in the area.

"I was like, 'Oh my God. Who had the heart to do something like that?'" Ivory Carter said. "It could have been my aunt or my sister or anybody."

Carter has lived on Central Street for more than 20 years, and when she heard that a woman's body had been found just up the street, she said she wasn't surprised.

"It could be you next, you never know," Carter said. "It (can) be dark. You can't see out here at night. It's dangerous. (I) used to be scared (only) at night. You're scared in the daytime now."

Her thoughts immediately went to the victim's family members, who will eventually get the bad news.

"It's really sad," Carter said. "My prayers go out to the family. I really hope they catch" whoever did this.

Officers said they don't have a motive or a suspect in the case. They're waiting for the medical examiner's office to identify the woman.

Carter hopes people will start banding together to stop violence in Detroit.

"(There's) no telling how long she was missing, or where she even came from," Carter said. "I just think that's just disgusting. We need to step up to make the city safer."

Sources said there's no indication yet that the victim is the 28-year-old woman missing from Farmington Hills.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Detroit Police Department.
