Xclusive Apparel broken into for 4th time on Detroit's east side

Video shows thieves breaking in through steel security door

DETROIT – Police investigated a burglary Thursday morning at a trendy clothing store on Detroit's east side.

The break-in happened before 5 a.m. Thursday at Xclusive Apparel on Seven Mile Road, near Mackay Street.

Local 4 obtained surveillance video from inside the store that shows a man in a light-colored sweatshirt going to work on a steel security door with a crowbar.

Two men got inside and turned on the lights before they started cleaning out the small business. They stole armfuls of clothing and sunglasses and snatched jeans off the walls.

This is the fourth time Xclusive Apparel has been broken into.

"It's been relentless," owner Michel Moore said.

Thieves have been targeting her business, which she built herself. It's the fourth time she and her husband have been robbed in 13 months. The last time, thieves wanted in so badly they broke through the shop's brick wall.

Photos from inside the shop show where the thieves smashed display cases. It's a $14,000 loss.

"You're trying to stay in business and stay afloat every day," Moore said. "You can't win for losing."
