Oh yeah! We're heading into the holiday weekend on a high note (it feels like summer!), but look out for rain Friday night into Saturday morning.

⏸️ HIT PAUSE: One of our favorite things about holiday weekends like Memorial Day weekend is that MDOT always LIFTS traffic restrictions. For that we say THANK YOU!

However, there are still some minor lane and ramp closures you need to know about, and we compiled all of it right here in the Weekend Construction List.

 

New citizens swearing in 🇺🇸

More than 25 newly naturalized citizens will be sworn in Friday morning in Downtown Detroit. These are lawful permanent residents who have met all the requirements for citizenship. They represent 14 countries. This diverse group of citizenship candidates will take the Oath of Allegiance to finalize the naturalization process. The top countries represented at Friday's ceremony include Iraq, Yemen and Syria.

Michigan AG announcement at 11 a.m. 📣

Attorney General Dana Nessel has a special announcement to make -- a "big announcement" her office says -- at 11 a.m. Stay with us to find out what she has to announce.

It's 'Don't Fry Day' ☀️

The Skin Cancer Foundation wants to remind people to stay sun-safe this Memorial Day weekend and all through the summer -- so Friday is "Don't Fry Day."

Here are some sun safety tips from the Skin Cancer Foundation:

  • Apply one ounce of broad spectrum, SPF 30+ sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside.
  • Reapply sunscreen every two hours or immediately after swimming or sweating.
  • Seek the shade between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Cover up with clothing, wide-brimmed hats and UV-blocking sunglasses.

Boating safety 🛥️

To close out National Safe Boating Week and to help improve boater safety,the United States Coast Guard Station Port Huron and other local agencies will be hosting an open house to review general boating safety information, serviceable lifejacket requirements, and provide an overview of unit assets.;

The open house will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m.

Flower sale in Northville 🌼🌹🌸

Northville's 32nd Annual Flower Sale starts Friday at 9 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m. Then on Saturday the sale continues from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's a family-fun event in downtown Northville where they will be selling ornamental accent plants, perennials, herbs, annuals, shrubs, exotic plants, and garden accessories.

Movement weekend is here! 🕺

Detroit's electronic music festival returns to Hart Plaza Saturday with dozens of musical acts to see over the span of three days. Tens of thousands of fans are expected to attend with some festival-goers coming from across the globe.
