The 2017 America’s Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit, presented by Art Van, returns to Woodward Avenue on November 23, 2017.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of Parade spectators line historic Woodward Avenue Thanksgiving morning to watch the larger than life floats, colorful helium-filled balloons, thunderous marching bands, and exciting specialty acts! The Parade is televised live locally on WDIV-TV, Local 4 with a syndicated national potential reach of over 65 million households!

Here's what you need to know:

When

The parade steps off at 8:50 a.m. from Kirby and Woodward and ends at Congress and Woodward. (See the route below.) The parade usually wraps up by noon. If you want to see the parade earlier, find a spot in Midtown. If you want to see it later, find a spot closer to Downtown.  

The Turkey Trot fun run starts at 7:30 a.m. If you want to run, you need to register on Wednesday. No race day registrations. More details on the run here.

TV 

Local 4 parade coverage starts with Local 4 Today at 6 a.m. Coverage of the America's Thanksgiving Parade starts at 9 a.m. National coverage -- also provided by WDIV -- starts at 10 a.m.

View road closures and transportation info here. The QLine is closed all day Thursday. It will start again on Friday at 6 a.m.

Where to park for the parade:

Parking lots will be available on the Wayne State University campus in multiple structures and lots that accept both cash and credit card. Here is where they can be found:

Lot 59a: Located at Warren and John R, this lot accepts cash only.

Lot 60: Located at Cass and Hancock, this lot accepts credit card only.

Lot 72: Located Cass and Canfield, this lot accepts credit card only.

Parking structure 2: Located at the Lodge and Kirby, this structure accepts credit card only.

Parking structure 3: Located at Woodward and Warren, this structure accepts credit card only.

Parking structure 6: Located at Cass and Putnam, this structure accepts both cash and credit card.

Parking structure 7: Located at John R and Mack, this structure accepts both cash and credit card.

Parking structure 8: Located at Woodward and Forest, this structure accepts both cash and credit card.

Where to watch the 2017 America's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit

America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Art Van will be held on Thursday, November 23. The Parade will be featured on WDIV Local 4, including a one-hour national broadcast. It will also be streaming live on ClickOnDetroit.com.
 
The theme of the 91st America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Art Van is “Woodward!! Avenue of Dreams!” The theme celebrates the beauty of Detroit’s Woodward Avenue as well as the completion of the QLine Detroit. Woodward Avenue is the backdrop of this annual iconic parade, which will be broadcast on WDIV-TV Local 4.

Here's a list of celebrities at this year's parade. Retired WDIV anchor Carmen Harlan and rap star Big Sean are this year's honorary parade marshals.
