Red Wings' Conner has broken hand; Tatar called up

Conner injured in Pittsburgh game

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings have placed forward and Westland, Mich., native Chris Conner on injured reserve with a broken hand.

Tomas Tatar has been called up from Grand Rapids to replace Conner and is expected to play in Thursday night's game against the Nashville Predators. However, forward Cory Emmerton could get the green light instead.

Conner was injured Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. He joins Patrick Eaves and Jan Mursak to round out the Wings' injured reserve list.

Conner is expected to be out for two weeks. He was enjoying a three-game points streak since playing in six games after Eaves went out with a broken jaw.

Tatar is third on the Grand Rapids Griffins' scoring list with 7 goals and 14 assists in 26 games. He was recalled by Detroit twice last season. He scored a goal and posted an even plus/minus rating.
