Whalers trounce Spirit 5-0

Plymouth stays out of penalty box for entire 60 minutes

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – The Plymouth Whalers won their fourth-straight game Wednesday night with a 5-0 victory over the Saginaw Spirit.

The Whalers (26-9-2-1) have won nine of their past 10 games and are 18-3-0-1 since Nov. 4. They are now just two points behind the top Western Conference team, the London Knights.

On Wednesday, Plymouth had goals from Stefan Noesen, Garrett Meurs, Alex Aleardi and Chris Albertini.

Saginaw has dropped the past four meetings with the Whalers. But the most impressive statistic from the game is Plymouth's zero penalty minutes -- the third time in franchise history that the team has stayed out of the penalty box for an entire game.

Saginaw was called on just two minor penalties.

The Guelph Storm visit Plymouth on Saturday. The Whalers beat Guelph 7-5 on Dec. 3. The Storm (15-16-2-3) sit in 5th place in the Midwest Division.
