Red Wings begin western road trip against Kings
Red Wings get Howard back in net for game against playoff hopeful Kings
DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings will play the first of three consecutive games out west Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Kings.
This will be the fourth and final meeting between the teams. The Red Wings have won all three with the latest being a 4-3 come-from-behind victory on Friday at Joe Louis Arena.
Detroit is in a battle with the St. Louis Blues for first place in the Central Division. With an injury-laden roster, the Wings have fallen six points behind the Blues while he Nashville Predators are just two points behind the Wings. They have gone 4-5-1 in their past 10 games.
Pavel Datsyuk, Nicklas Lidstrom, Todd Bertuzzi and Jimmy Howard have all missed several games with injuries.
The good news for Detroit is Howard will return to the crease Tuesday night.
The Kings are sitting back in 11th place in the Western Conference. They beat Chicago 3-2 on Sunday. Los Angeles has struggled to string together wins as they battle for the 8th spot. They are just two points behind the Colorado Avalanche, but the San Jose Sharks and Calgary Flames sit between them.
Puck drops at 10:30 p.m.
The Red Wings will visit Anaheim on Wednesday and San Jose on Saturday before retuning home for a Monday night game against the Washington Capitals.
