Computer picks NCAA winners

DETROIT – Computers assist us in so many aspects of our lives on a daily basis so why not get a little help for your NCAA bracket?

WhatIfSports.com has unveiled its 2012 NCAA bracket preview which includes results for the three Michigan teams involved in the tournament.

Everyone will be trying to pick the Cinderalla teams of 2012, but WhatIfSports has used its college basketball simulation engine to help you make your picks.  The site "played" every tournament matchup over 2,000 times.

For upsets, the site liked Belmont over Georgetown, BYU over Marquette, N.C. State over San Diego State, and Texas over Cincinnati.

In terms of the Michigan teams. the computer gave Michigan State a 7.5% change of reaching the Final Four.  The Spartans were given a 3.3% chance to win the national title.

Michigan was picked to win the first round versus Ohio University.  But, the computer selects Temple as the winner of the second round.

As for the UDM Titans, they are expected to lose to no. 2 seed Kansas.

The computer crowned no. 1 seed Kentucky as the national champion.
