Tigers beat down Rays 10-1

Series opener is all Detroit Tigers

DETROIT – Prince Fielder knocked in four runs, Omar Infante added three RBIs and Anibal Sanchez pitched seven strong innings as Detroit rolled over visiting Tampa Bay.

Fielder, who matched Jhonny Peralta with a team-best three hits, and Infante each belted solo homers as the Tigers handed Tampa Bay starter Matt Moore (8-1) his first loss. Sanchez (6-5) allowed four hits, one run and struck out nine while throwing 102 pitches.

Moore, who had yielded two or fewer runs in nine of his first 11 starts, surrendered seven hits, six walks and six runs in two-plus innings. Tampa Bay's Evan Longoria tripled and scored on Desmond Jennings' sacrifice fly in the second for a brief 1-0 lead.

Matt Tuiasosopo's RBI double ignited a four-run uprising in the bottom of the second that gave the Tigers a 4-1 lead. Tuiasosopo came home on a sacrifice fly by Infante, and two walks later Fielder delivered a two-out, two-run single up the middle to cap the rally.

Avisail Garcia singled home a run and Infante pushed across another with a bases-loaded walk to push the advantage to 6-1 in the third. Infante connected for his home run to left field off Kyle Farnsworth in the fifth and Fielder's blast to right field came in the eighth off Jamey Wright.
