Detroit Waza Flo secures returning players to roster

DETROIT – Detroit Waza Flo will be enjoying a few of their scoring powers, along with a big playmaker, by signing Nik Djokic, Victor Otieno and Michael Grba.

Immense intensity describes Nik Djokic's style of play. As the third on the team in scoring last season with 13 goals and 11 assists, Djokic looks to continue to produce in a big way for Waza Flo this year during this MASL inaugural season.

Opposition problems brings to mind Victor Otieno. Otieno gave his share of problems to the other teams by scoring 12 goals and 5 assists last season.

"It was an easy decision for me and (owner) Dominic Scicluna to add them and we look forward to their production," said head coach Costea Decu about the signing of these two big Detroit staples that look to provide continued pressure and scoring again this year. "They are both great. Both were high goal scorers and played the game beautifully."

"He's a rare breed," is how Coach Decu describes the next signee Michael Grba.

Grba is a young midfielder who was utilized as a defensive midfielder last year with his sure play and tactical awareness. Despite his 4 goals and a pair of assists last season, fans may remember him more for his 28 fouls.

"That just speaks to his intense play," said Scicluna. "He rarely finds himself in the penalty box and any coach would take those numbers coupled with his stout play. I'm glad he isn't playing for the other guys."

Waza Flo's first season home matchup is Saturday, Nov. 1 when they take on the Harrisburg Heat at 7:05pm at Melvindale Civic Arena (4300 S Dearborn St, Melvindale, MI 48122).

Tickets prices are $12 for adults and $8 for children ages 3-12. Tickets can be purchased online here. The full schedule can be found here.
