LPGA Volvik Championship Official Pro-Am is May 23-29

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Not only does the LPGA Volvik Championship Official Pro-Am presented by A123 Systems offer an opportunity for anyone who plays the game of golf to rub elbows and compete with the top women professional golfers in the world, it also gives those entrants a chance to compete in Michigan Stadium, the largest capacity football stadium in North America.

The Pro-Am kicks off with a festive Pairings Party on Tuesday evening, May 24, at Crisler Center.

During the Pairings Party, all those playing in the Pro-Am will have the added fun of competing in ‘The Big Break at the Big House.’

On Wednesday, May 25, at Travis Pointe, the actual golf competition takes place.  In a fun twist, the scramble format will pair each amateur foursome with an LPGA player on the front nine and then with a second LPGA player on the back nine.

“It doesn’t matter if you are a scratch player or a 30 handicap, the Pro-Am experience is for those who love the game of golf,” said Tournament Director Keith Karbo. “The thing to remember is that your pro only requires you to enjoy your time on the course.”

A Pro-Am is a unique event. In no other major sport can an amateur compete in the same sport as that professional athlete.

The LPGA Volvik Championship at Travis Pointe Country Club in Ann Arbor will take place May 23-29. For more information on the Pro-Am, call 734.707.0789 or go to Volviklpga.com/pro-am.
