Former MSU Spartan football player becomes a dentist

If you're a Spartan fan, you might remember Blair White, the walk-on from Saginaw who scored 10 touchdowns in his career at Michigan State University.

He then went on to play two seasons in the NFL with the Colts. But these days, he’s not playing around.

“I’m Dr. White now, yes,” he told Local 4 in an interview.

White traded in his uniform for a lab coat and graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School this year.

“I’ve always been interested in human physiology,” White said “Playing wide receiver, working with my hands, understanding how dental works with your body interested me.”

White said walking on at MSU, getting picked up by the Colts were blessings, but becoming a doctor was always Plan A.

Back in East Lansing, he hit the books just as much as he hit the gym.

“I majored in human biology and all those fun courses for nerds,” he said.

Now, with four years of dental school down, Dr. White is also a dad of two and about to start a new life in Louisville as a resident in orthodontics, but he remembers those playing days fondly.

“It was the best time of my life,” he said.
