U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Swimming take place in Omaha, Nebraska from June 26 - July 3, 2016. There, Olympians like Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Katie Ledecky, Missy Franklin and Nathan Adrian will race to qualify for additional Games, while relative newcomers like Maya DiRado and Simone Manuel will aim to make their Olympic debuts.
Two swimmers will qualify for the Olympic Games in each event, except for the 100m and 200m freestyles. The U.S. will take six men and women in each event in order to fill out their relay spots.

The U.S. has qualified three swimmers to race in the 10k open water event: Haley Anderson, Jordan Wilimovsky and Sean Ryan. They each qualified by placing in the top 10 of the 10k events at the 2015 World Championships. Wilimovsky and Ryan finished first and fourth, respectively, while Anderson was ninth in the women's race. Anderson earned a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics in the 10k, and Wilimovsky and Ryan are making their first Olympic appearances in Rio.
