Michael Phelps could make Rio debut; Katie Ledecky, Dana Vollmer in swimming action

Phelps is expected to be part of the U.S. men's 4x100m freestyle relay team that will contend for a gold medal. It would be Phelps' first race of the Rio Games. Phelps was part of the 4x100m relay team that won gold in thrilling and historic fashion at the 2008 Beijing Games over a favored French team, before the French returned the favor in 2012.

Ledecky has her eyes set on the first of what could be three individual gold medals for her in Rio as she competes in the women's 400m freestyle final, a race in which she is a two-time world champion. Vollmer will look to bring a medal to the United States as well in the final of the women's 100m butterfly, an event in which she is the reigning Olympic gold medalist.
