(LAKANA) – David Boudia won a bronze medal in men's platform diving on Saturday at the Rio Games.
Boudia, who won silver in synchronized platform diving earlier in Rio with partner Steele Johnson, finished behind gold medalist Chen Aisen of China and silver medalist
Germán Sánchez of Mexico.
Johnson, a 20-year-old Indianapolis native and Purdue University diver competing in his first Olympics, failed to qualify for the final from the semifinals earlier on Saturday.
Boudia, a 27-year-old Texan native, was part of the bronze-medal winning duo for the U.S. in 2012, then partnering with Nicholas McCrory. He also competed at the 2008 Beijing Games.
British diver Tom Daley, who won bronze four years ago in London and led after Friday's preliminary dives, failed to qualify for the final after finishing 18th and last in the semifinals.
