After more than 400 nominations and 57,000 votes for 44 marching bands throughout Metro Detroit, we have a Top 10 list of finalists. Actually, make that a Top 11.
Thank you to everyone who supported their marching bands through nominations and voting. Many of the submissions came with moving stories about the importance of bands in people's lives. The word "family" was mentioned a lot when describing how people feel about their bands.

We celebrate all marching bands in Metro Detroit and the hard work that goes into learning and performing shows, sometimes just a few times for a live audience in a season. Our Friday Football Frenzy is built around high school football, but we know that many of those football crowds are filled with fans and families of the marching bands. Marching band is an important part of the high school experience for many people.
That said, we also structured this as a competition. With that in mind, here are the Top 11 vote-getters in Round 1 of our voting. We had initially planned on a Top 10, but the 10th and 11th place finishers were so close -- just a few votes apart -- we advanced both to Round 2.

These 11 schools now advance to a Round 2 poll. Votes reset to zero and the winner of our Round 2 poll will be named Friday Football Frenzy's Best Marching Band 2016.
