Detroit Lions say ref admitted enforcing penalty on wrong team

DETROIT – A referee admitted to a Detroit Lions player that a penalty called against the Lions on Sunday should have been called against the Chicago Bears.

Lions center Graham Glasgow was flagged for illegal hands to the face during Sunday's Lions-Bears game, even though the replay showed it was actually a Bears player who committed the penalty.

Glasgow told the Free Press after the game that a ref came to him afterward and told him, "Oh, I just switched you guys up. I meant to call it on 91, but you were blocking him, so I accidentally called it on you."

Glasgow said he responded with, "Whatever, man."

This is not the first time the Lions have had issues with referees.

Earlier this year, the NFL admitted that the refs called a 66-yard pass interference on the Lions was wrong.

The Lions ended up beating the Bears, improving to 9-4 on the season.
