Red Wings-Maple Leafs oudoor game delayed 30 minutes due to sun on ice

Today's Centennial Classic outdoor game between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs will be delayed 30 minutes due to sunlight on the ice surface at Exhibition Stadium, the NHL announced. 

The puck originally was scheduled to be dropped at 3:30 p.m.

It's a player safety issue, the league said. 

This has been a problem with NHL outdoor games in the past. The glare from the sun can cause a big issue for gameplay. 

Right now it's 37 degrees F (3 degrees C) in Toronto with plenty of sunshine.
