Detroit Tigers update starting pitching schedule after rainout

Michael Fulmer, Jordan Zimmermann, Daniel Norris scheduled to pitch in Oakland

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers announced the starting pitchers for this weekend's series against the Oakland Athletics following a rainout Thursday in the series finale against the Cleveland Indians.

Michael Fulmer, who was scheduled to start Thursday, will instead take the mound Friday in Oakland. Fulmer has been the Tigers' best pitcher through five starts, striking out 26 batters in 31 innings and allowing just 22 hits.

Jordan Zimmermann will start Saturday, looking for his first quality start since the opening week of the season. Zimmermann has allowed five earned runs in three of his five starts this season.

Daniel Norris is scheduled to start the series finale against the A's after a strong outing Monday against the Indians. Norris has dominated the Tribe early this year but struggled in three other starts.

The series in Oakland kicks off a nine-game West Coast trip for the Tigers, who will play two games against the Arizona Diamondbacks and four games against the Los Angeles Angels.
