Dean Blandino, former NFL VP of officiating, sends video apology to Detroit Lions fans

DETROIT – The former NFL Vice President of Officiating, Dean Blandino, is not held in the warmest of regards with Detroit Lions fans.

The Lions are known for getting screwed by NFL rules and referees - and look no further than Blandino. The most recent example can be found just a couple of weeks ago.

Blandino appeared on screen this year during the Atlanta Falcons-Detroit Lions game at Ford Field, in favor of overturning a last-minute, game-winning Lions touchdown.

But this wasn't the first time Blandino burned Lions fans.

In 2015, Blandino, who was working for the NFL at the time, spoke in favor of a Seahawks punching style fumble on Calvin Johnson, which should have been a flag. See below.

On Tuesday, Blandino posted a video apologizing to Lions fans, and asking to be friends.

Detroit fans and I haven't always seen eye-to-eye. But I love Detroit...honest.#onepride pic.twitter.com/N1gLlfaqCy
