NBA changes format of All-Star Game, will no longer be East vs. West

DETROIT – The NBA All-Star Game will no longer feature players from each conference facing off.

The NBA announced major changes to the All-Star format, which includes getting rid of the East vs. West format and moving to a two captains format.

Under the revamped format, two captains will draft the 2018 All-Star teams from the pool of players voted as starters and reserves, regardless of conference affiliation.

The teams will also be playing for charity.

The voting process will remain the same, with 12 players from each conference earning spots.

The 2018 NBA All-Star Game is Sunday, Feb. 18 on TNT.
