The victory was Truex's eighth win of the season. Busch finished second in the race, while Kyle Larson was third and Harvick was fourth.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series title was also a first for Truex's Denver-based Furniture Row Racing and the second in three years for manufacturer Toyota.

Busch also finished second in the overall standings, followed by Harvick and Keselowski, who finished seventh on Sunday. Busch's five wins this season were second only to Truex Jr.'s eight.
