What are your favorite extracurricular activities: football, yearbook, and basketball
Evan grew up playing football and has been playing for 11 years now. His interest started at a young age because he used to watch football with his dad and brothers. As a senior, he was named captain for Algonac High School. Evan takes his leadership role seriously and loves how the team motivates each other when they are down. He says the thrill of the game excites him, as well as, the camaraderie, and the bonds that are formed, not only as teammates, but as friends.
What challenges in football helped you to overcome obstacles in your everyday life?
Evan had two bad injuries, ending this football season, and the previous one, early. He broke his collar bone with 3 to 4 games left of the season last year. It was emotional for him because it was the last time that he would get to play with his brother on the same team. This year he had an even worse injury that would end his season early yet again. He learned to keep pushing forward when things don’t go how he plans. Evan continues to support his team, keep his head up and realize that he can overcome any obstacle.
How did it feel to be nominated for a Fall Fan Choice Award?
Evan was very surprised and grateful. Although he is unsure of who nominated him, Evan really wanted to thank that person. He knows that there are a lot of very talented athletes throughout the various high schools, so it meant a lot to him and he was honored to be nominated. GO MUSKRATS!
