Oak Park High School – Tremayne Oliver, a senior at Oak Park High, wins “Favorite Defensive Tackle” for 4Frenzy’s Fall Fan Choice Awards. Even though he was chosen for defensive tackle, Oliver is a very versatile player. “I also play the whole D-Line and I play linebacker,” he says.

At the age of seven was when Oliver picked up his first football and established a love for the sport. “I played for the West Seven Rams,” he says. West Seven Rams is a non-profit youth club within Detroit PAL for kids ages 5 to 14. When asked what he loves most about playing football, he responded, “I love the brotherhood, you meet different people and bond with them.”

Throughout high school, Oliver says that he’s faced many challenges as a student-athlete. “My biggest challenge has been facing adversity when we play schools from far away,” he says. “When it’s a school from far out, their schools have home advantage, so sometimes we don’t get fair calls.”

But with challenges, also comes achievement. "My biggest success, I would probably say it was this season because we’ve never went 8 and 1 before until now,” he says. The football player says that his next goal is to bring the State Championship to Oak Park before graduating.

As of right now, Oliver doesn't have any colleges in mind after graduating. However, Grand Valley State, Ferris State, and Eastern Kentucky University is keeping a close eye on him. He also got the opportunity to visit Michigan State just this past week.

For those who are aiming to play varsity football in high school, Oliver’s advice is: “Put your grades first because you need good grades to play.” He continues, “And come to all team activities, come to film, team bonding... you got to be dedicated to the team.”
