Short track at the 2022 Winter Olympics will take place at the Capital Indoor Stadium, which hosted the indoor volleyball competition at the 2008 Summer Games.
The area was built in 1968 within the Beijing city center. It hosted table tennis matches between teams from China and the United States as part of the 1971 "ping pong diplomacy" program. In 2004, the area hosted one of the first NBA games in China.
