INDIANAPOLIS - Louisville guard Kevin Ware badly injured his lower right leg during the Midwest Regional final against Duke on Sunday and had to be taken off the court on a stretcher.

A game official told several reporters that a bone has snapped. Trainers immediately covered the leg with a towel and placed Ware on a backboard, then lifted him onto a stretcher.

During the accident, Ware's leg came down awkwardly and broke while he attempted to block a shot during the first half of the game. CBS showed two slow-motion replays of the injury right after it happened then not again, concentrating on the reaction of people around him.

The segment was not replayed during the halftime coverage. The network sports chairman Sean McManus says that was because of the graphic nature of the footage.

CBS is telling its NCAA basketball crew not to show replays of Ware's gruesome injury during Sunday's tournament game.

He was taken to nearby Methodist Hospital, according to a statement from tournament officials. MORE: Louisville overcomes injury, beats Duke.
