Former Detroit sports journalist and current ESPN anchor Jemele Hill took to Twitter on Monday night with critical statements against President Donald Trump.
Hill called the President a "white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself with other white supremacists." But she did not stop there, tweeting Trump "is a direct result of white supremacy," and more:

Trump is the most ignorant, offensive president of my lifetime. His rise is a direct result of white supremacy. Period.

No the media doesn't make it a threat. It IS a threat. He has empowered white supremacists (see: Charlottesville).

He is unqualified and unfit to be president. He is not a leader. And if he were not white, he never would have been elected

Donald Trump is a bigot. Glad you could live with voting for him. I couldn't, because I cared about more than just myself

You can imagine the storm this created on Twitter. Hill faced backlash -- and support -- for her opinion and has kept the tweets in place.
Those tweets were sent on Monday. ESPN felt it was necessary to issue this statement about Hill's comments on Tuesday:

It's unclear if Hill, now an anchor for SportsCenter, faces any discipline from ESPN.
