Detroit native Jemele Hill calls President Trump bigot, white supremacist; ESPN issues statement

Former Detroit sports journalist and current ESPN anchor Jemele Hill took to Twitter on Monday night with critical statements against President Donald Trump. 

Hill called the President a "white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself with other white supremacists." But she did not stop there, tweeting Trump "is a direct result of white supremacy," and more:

You can imagine the storm this created on Twitter. Hill faced backlash -- and support -- for her opinion and has kept the tweets in place. 

Those tweets were sent on Monday. ESPN felt it was necessary to issue this statement about Hill's comments on Tuesday:

It's unclear if Hill, now an anchor for SportsCenter, faces any discipline from ESPN.
