EAST LANSING, Mich. – Former Michigan State University basketball coach Jud Heathcote died Monday in Spokane, Washington, the athletic department announced.
Heathcote was 90 years old. He coached the Spartans from 1976-1995, going 339-221. He led the team to nine NCAA Tournament appearances, including a national championship in 1979, an Elite 8 appearance in 1978 and Sweet 16 appearances in 1986 and 1990.
