Plymouth Whalers host Guelph Storm, hope to avoid 0-3 deficit in series

Storm jump to 2-0 series lead over favored Whalers

DETROIT – The Plymouth Whalers have not started 2012 Ontario Hockey League playoffs in stunning fashion.

The 7th-seeded Guelph Storm have won the first two games of a best-of-seven series with the Whalers. Game 2 showcased a late rally from the Storm which secured their 2-0 series lead with a 5-3 victory in Guelph.

The Whalers are hoping the home crowd Tuesday night at Compuware Arena will help them avoid a 3-0 series deficit.

The Storm have outscored Plymouth 9-5 over the past two games. The Whalers outshot the Storm 47-30 in Game 1, but still fell 4-2.

Game 2 was a different story as Guelph took control offensively. They outshot the Whalers 34-25.

Puck drops at 7:05 p.m.

Game 4 will be played Thursday in Guelph.
