DETROIT – Detroit Tigers General Manager Al Avila is scheduled to speak Friday morning after a busy day Thursday which included trading away franchise pitcher Justin Verlander.

The Tigers first traded outfielder Justin Upton to the Angels Thursday afternoon.
The main event came late Thursday night when Detroit dished Verlander to the Houston Astros right at the trade deadline.
The Tigers acquired pitcher Franklin Perez, center fielder Daz Cameron and catcher Jake Rogers from the Astros in exchange for Verlander and a player to be named later or cash considerations.
