Top 5 Detroit Pistons' free agent targets

NBA free agency opens on July 1

Headline Goes Here

DETROIT - With NBA free agency set to open tomorrow at midnight, there is one thing we can all agree on when it comes to the Detroit Pistons: they're not going to sign a superstar. Frankly, this team needs a lot more than a superstar. The Pistons have plenty of cap space to add some valuable pieces. Here are a few options they could be looking at:

1) Lance Stephenson - SG - Indiana Pacers

Stephenson is coming off a breakout season with Indiana, averaging about 14 PPG, with 7 rebounds, giving Indiana a formidable scorer along side Paul George. Chances are he stays with the Pacers, but if not, the Pistons could look to add this budding playmaker to the mix.

2) Shaun Livingston - G - Brooklyn Nets

Coming back from a gruesome knee injury, Livingston has rebounded with the Nets, averaging just over 8 PPG last year, giving Brooklyn some energy off the bench. He's probably not starter material anymore, but he could be a good veteran addition to the backcourt.

3) Trevor Ariza - SF - Washington Wizards

Washington would love to bring him back, but all signs point to him not wanting to be back. Ariza is an above average defender with scoring potential, averaging almost 15 PPG last year. He's only 28, with room to grow, and the Pistons desperately need a small forward that can stretch the floor.

4) Anthony Morrow - G - New Orleans Pelicans

Morrow is set to opt out of his contract with the Pelicans, and if his 45% three point shooting doesn't sell you, I don't know what will. Detroit ranked in the bottom 5 in three point shooting last year.

5) Darren Collison - PG - Los Angles Clippers

The Pistons need a point guard, desperately. They have Brandon Jennings, currently, but that hasn't worked so well, so far. They drafted a point guard in last week's draft, but he won't be ready to play right off the bat. If Stan Van Gundy wants to really set the tone for his first year, he'll sign a stud point guard. Collison is the most realistic option.

Of course, pending Greg Monroe's situation, this could all change. Follow @Local4Sports for the latest updates.
