Detroit Lions pick 5th in tonight's NFL Draft

Lions have 5th pick in 1st round of 2013 NFL Draft

Headline Goes Here

DETROIT - The Detroit Lions will be able to pick 5th Thursday night in the NFL's 2013 Draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs will have 1st pick. The Chiefs are expected to select an offensive tackle, most likely Texas A&M's Luke Joeckel, something that has only happened twice since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.

The Lions are expected to pick either a defensive end or an offensive lineman. That could mean BYU end Ziggy Ansah or North Carolina guard Jonathan Cooper.

There are half a dozen offensive linemen and just as many defensive linemen who could go in the top 15 picks this season. Meanwhile, more glamorous positions such as quarterback are weak, and West Virginia's Geno Smith might be the only QB taken in the first round.

The Chiefs go on the clock at 8 p.m. EDT.
