DETROIT - The Detroit Lions are reportedly interested in Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, and Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt, according to CBS Sports writer Jason La Canfora.

The Lions had to wait until the first round of NFL playoff games concluded to reach out to the two candidates. La Canfora says the team has requested permission to interview Gruden and Whisenhunt.

Jay Gruden, the younger brother of Jon Gruden, has been the Bengals coordinator since 2011, and does not have head coaching experience in the NFL. Ken Whisenhunt notably took the Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl in 2009, only to lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Last week, the Lions interviewed Ravens offensive coordinator, Jim Caldwell.
