DETROIT - Henrik Zetterberg scored just 1:04 into the overtime period Friday night to give the Detroit Red Wings a 4-3 win in Game 6 and force a Game 7 with the Anaheim Ducks.

It was a timely goal from the Detroit captain after his team saw a 3-1 lead disappear late in the 3rd period. The Red Wings needed the overtime winner -- their 3rd of the series -- to stay alive, and they got it in dramatic fashion once again.

The game started well for Detroit. They were all over the Ducks early in the 1st period thanks to a jumpstart from a power play after Ryan Getzlaf was called for tripping in the neutral zone. Anaheim had to weather the early storm.

The game was scoreless until about 1 minute left in the 1st period when Pavel Datsyuk rang a backhand shot off the inside of the post and up past Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller.

The Red Wings outshot the Ducks 11-7 in the opening period and went into the 1st intermission with a 1-0 lead.

Goalie Jimmy Howard robbed Teemu Selanne of a goal early in the 2nd period. Selanne was all alone in front of the net where he tried to one-time the puck into the net but Howard was not fooled. He quickly slid across the crease to make the low pad save. The Ducks started to get more opportunities.

The game was tied up at 1-1 when Kyle Palmieri shot one off the post midway through the 2nd period. It seemed the Red Wings were lucky but after the puck hit the post it hit defenseman Brendan Smith, who was on his way to the net, and went right by Howard and bounced into an open net. Smith tried but failed to slap the puck away at the last moment.

The teams went into the 3rd period tied at 1-1. The Ducks were outshooting the Wings 21-17.

The Red Wings connected on the power play about 6 minutes into the 3rd period to take a 2-1 lead. Zetterberg got the go-ahead goal.

Detroit went right back on the power play when Andrew Cogliano got the box for tripping. The Wings didn't score on the man advantage but Justin Abdelkader, who returned in Game 6 after a two-game suspension, put one past Hiller when the Ducks returned to even strength. It was 3-1 Red Wings with minutes remaining in regulation.

Then it all changed. The Ducks tied it up with minutes left on goals from Emerson Etem and Bobby Ryan.

But Zetterberg was the hero in overtime, just a minute in. It was his second of the night.

The teams meet Sunday night for Game 7 in Anaheim.
