The Detroit Red Wings will need a long winning streak if they want to consider a visit postseason. 

Detroit was able to come out on top, 5-4, in Friday night's back-and-forth game against the New York Islanders.

Could this be the start of a run the team needs to salvage the season?

The Red Wings are traveling to Nashville for a game against the Predators Saturday night. Defenseman Brendan Smith, who has been out of the lineup sprained right knee, is expected to be activated for Saturday's game against the Predators. The teams last met Oct. 21 when the Red Wings won 5-3 in Detroit.
