DETROIT - For most Detroit Lions fans, getting Matthew Stafford a contract extension is a top priority.
The Lions quarterback is entering the final year of his deal and most anticipated Stafford would sign a contract extension before training camp, which started this week.
The contract was expected to be among the highest - if not, the highest contract in NFL history.
Matthew Stafford appeared on NFL Network on Tuesday and said the contract doesn't effect him at all.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports: "They're actively talking, but my understanding is there's still a pretty substantial gap."
It's unclear if the gap is with years, money, bonus or other requirements - but it's clear that Stafford's contract extension is probably not imminent.
