On Monday, after Golden State’s Andrew Wiggins grabbed a defensive rebound with 3.6 seconds left in the third, Poole immediately raced up court and called for the ball. Though Wiggins released his pass with just .8 seconds left, Poole caught it and released a fundamentally sound shot before the buzzer. He left Michigan after his sophomore season, was drafted by the Warriors with the 28th pick, and is in his third season in the NBA. Golden State is one win away from an NBA championship, with Game 6 set for Thursday night in Boston.

A company founded by former University of Michigan basketball players and team managers will appear on Friday’s episode of the popular ABC show “Shark Tank.”The Players Trunk is an online marketplace where college athletes can sell their team-issued gear and branded merchandise. In January of 2021, “Shark Tank” reached out. Lansing is pleased with how The Players Trunk has grown since its launch, and said the support from the Michigan basketball program has been critical to the success. The two continue to use their connections to bring new athletes to The Players Trunk. The Players Trunk “Shark Tank” presentation surely hit on the accomplishments of the company to date and opportunities for growth.

The 2021 NBA Summer League is in the books. Here’s a look back at all the former Wolverines in Summer League, most of which was played in Las Vegas and wrapped on Tuesday night. These deals are not exactly straightforward, but essentially fall between a typical G League contract and a two-way deal. The 2020-21 NBA season starts on Tuesday night with the Warriors against the Nets, and each team has a former Michigan basketball player on its roster. Ignas Brazdeikis, New York KnicksThe former one-and-done Wolverine spent much of last year, his rookie season, in the G League, appearing in just nine NBA games. Simpson can try to catch on with a G League team, but perhaps not the Lakers’. Reports have indicated a G League season will take place, in an Atlanta “bubble” starting in January, though the Lakers’ affiliate is among those not expected to participate. Kameron ChatmanChatman, who transferred from Michigan in 2016 after his sophomore season, played in Belgium last year.

Nearly 20 months after he last suited up for Michigan, Charles Matthews has signed a professional basketball contract. An entire, prolonged NBA season went by without his participation. It is not clear what type of deal Matthews signed. His former Michigan teammates Zavier Simpson and Jon Teske each signed training camp deals this past week and going undrafted.
