Gretchen Whitmer filed an application Friday for emergency leave with the Michigan Court of Appeals and asked the Michigan Supreme Court to take the case directly. Last week, the Court of Claims issued an order blocking the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services' ban on flavored nicotine vaping products. I'm hopeful that the Supreme Court will immediately take up this case so we can ensure our kids' safety." The governor ordered MDHHS to ban the sale of flavored vaping products in stores and online.

Whitmer announces plan to increase workers eligible for overtime pay
Gretchen Whitmer announced a plan to increase the number of Michigan workers who would be eligible for overtime pay. Just 90 days in, the name describes it to the tee Vibe Ride Detroit. It's about fitness group classes and all we do is service cycling and body classes to the community," said Latricia Wilder, owner of Vibe Ride Detroit. Thursday, Whitmer announced a new proposal to expand the right to overtime pay to more Michigan workers, allowing businesses like Vibe Ride Detroit to pay their workers more, "Right now, there are too many Michiganders who work more than 40 hours a week without any guaranteed overtime pay," said Whitmer. The proposal will extend overtime pay rights to workers making up to $35,500.

Ohio could be latest state to end tax on pads, tampons
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Pink tax, tampon tax, period tax -- the rule goes by different names, but all refer to the sales tax people pay to purchase pads and tampons. But that doesn't mean that Ohio will become the latest state to lose its sales tax on tampons. Which states don't tax menstrual products, and why does it matter? Oregon, Montana, Alaska, Delaware and New Hampshire also don't tax menstrual products, but that's because they don't have general sales tax. Voters still approved the sales tax exemption, which went into effect on the first day of 2019 and will last until 2028.
