DETROIT – Drivers will get some relief traveling on I-75 through Oakland County next month.
MDOT announced Friday that three lanes will re-open next month. Here's the info:

Weather permitting, three lanes of southbound I-75, from M-59 to Coolidge Highway will be open by 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2. This marks the beginning of the final stage of construction for segment one on the I-75 modernization project in Oakland County. This work is included in the ongoing $91.8 million investment to reconstruct I-75 between Coolidge Highway and South Boulevard.
Starting Saturday, July 29, both directions of I-75 will have an additional intermittent single-lane closures to allow crews to open two lanes of traffic on the new southbound pavement.
Throughout the remainder of the weekend into Tuesday, crews will place temporary barrier wall on the southbound side of the freeway for the final traffic shift that will allow for reconstructing the last portion of the northbound lanes from Squirrel Road to South Boulevard.
By Wednesday, Aug. 2, all traffic will be maintained on the southbound side of the freeway with two lanes open northbound, along with three lanes southbound.
Ramp closures include:
- The Adams Road entrance ramp to northbound I-75,
- The Adams Road ramp to southbound I-75,
- The northbound I-75 exit to westbound Square Lake Road,
-The eastbound Square Lake Road entrance to northbound I-75, and
- The eastbound M-59 ramp to southbound I-75.
These ramps are expected to remain closed until mid-September.
