Farmington Road to undergo $1.2M construction project between 7 Mile, 8 Mile roads in Livonia

Work set to begin Monday, July 24

LIVONIA, Mich. – Motorists in Livonia should expect to see orange barrels as soon as Thursday along Farmington Road between 7 Mile and 8 Mile roads as construction crews prepare to get to work. 

Wayne County's Department of Public Services will begin a capital improvement project Monday on this stretch of Farmington Road. County spokeswoman Kaye Byrd said the construction project is estimated to cost $1.2 million.

The project includes:

  • Road resurfacing
  • Concrete pavement repairs
  • Bridge epoxy overlay
  • Sidewalk ramps
  • Guardrails
  • Pavement markings
  • New signage

Farmington Road construction schedule

Construction will begin on Monday July 24, 2017 and the road work is estimated to be completed in October, barring any unforeseen delays or inclement weather. Restoration of grass will be completed as weather allows.

  • BEGINS: Monday, July 24, 2017
  • ENDS: October, 2017

The county said construction will be completed in stages and one lane of traffic in either direction will be maintained at all times. Two-way access to all side streets and driveways off of Farmington Road will be maintained at all times. Traffic will be flagged as needed during milling and paving operations.

If you have a sprinkler system on your property and are along the project corridor, you are asked to identify and clearly stake the locations of the system -- heads, valves, and underground lines -- or any other underground utilities that are not part of the MISS DIG program.
