DETROIT – Only one lane of southbound I-75 between Clark Avenue and Springwells is open while crews work to repair the Junction Street overpass.

The overpass was damaged when it was struck by a truck Tuesday morning on the southbound side of I-75. The Michigan Department of Transportation had planned to demolish the entire bridge, but then announced only a few beams needed to be replaced.

Still, a stretch of the interstate has to be shut down so crews can complete the work. This closure is expected to last into Friday.

How this affects traffic:

  • One lane of southbound I-75 is open between Clark Avenue and Springwells.
  • Northbound I-75 has remained open.

"Drivers should be aware of crews placing additional barrels on I-75 and equipment being brought to the site to prepare for the closure and demolition," reads a statement from MDOT.

No injuries were reported after the truck struck the bridge.
