Heineken's 'Departure Roulette' sends travelers to random destinations

Travelers are offered trips to exotic destinations

DETROIT – Heineken is sending travelers to exotic destinations. Here's the catch: you don't know where, and you have to leave immediately.

On Monday, Heineken unveiled a marketing stunt in which travelers at JFK airport were asked to ditch their current plans for a game of "Departure Roulette." Folks who passed by Terminal 8 were given the opportunity to go on an adventure somewhere else and were asked to exchange their current plans for new ones.

The travelers who decided to take the challenge were then asked to press a red button on a board showing them their possible destinations. Those who were spontaneous enough to take on the unknown destination were awarded with exotic destinations such as Morocco, Thailand and Cyprus. They also received expenses, along with two free nights at a hotel for their trip.

The majority of people who were offered the free trip cited business trips and other obligations, and turned down the challenge. Others admitted they just weren't adventurous enough.
