DETROIT – The 2017 Vote 4 the Best competition kicked off Wednesday and we're off to a great start.
More than 20,000 votes across 167 categories have been cast in the first two days. Thank you to everyone who has participated! We’re seeing record amounts of interest in our competition this year, and it’s amazing. It is, however, creating some issues with voting that we’d like to clear up.
As you know, Vote 4 the Best is new and improved this year, and like anything new, there's a bit of a learning curve. We'd like to try and help out.
First, we want to clarify the email verification process. We’ve received a lot of feedback from voters about this new feature, and we would like to explain why we went in this direction.
This year, we decided to get rid of user names and passwords and instead use email verification. This way, you don’t have to constantly reset your password when you forget it. Not only does it help you, but it helps us as well. By verifying your email address, you are proving that you are a valid voter.
Here’s a quick tip to keep your verification link close to you at all times during the voting process: When you use the link to verify your email address, bookmark it on your computer or phone. That way, when you go back to continue voting later, you can just click on that link and it will automatically log you back in.
Not seeing the Vote 4 the Best contest? Make sure you turn off your pop-up blocker, which can prevent the voting polls from opening. We had at least one person experience that issue today, and then figured out the solution -- we greatly appreciate the help!
Local 4 is about supporting local businesses both big and small, and we want Vote 4 the Best to be a success for everyone this year.
We would like to thank our longtime sponsor Wallside Windows. They started as a small business, grew their customers and now they are celebrating 73 years in Michigan.
