VOTE 4 THE BEST: 2012 winners of best independently owned pizza restaurants

5) The Coach Sports Grille

Beginning the countdown of best independent pizza places is the Coach Sports Grille, formerly known as the Coachman Lounge.

Located in Madison Heights, The Coach Sports Grille says it offers an assortment of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, pastas and, what helped it make the list, pizza.  The Coach's pizzas are hand tossed and baked in a brick oven to give them, what they say, an authentic Old World taste.

Terry on our Vote 4 The Best contest page says everything is fresh, well-balanced and perfectly seasoned.  One voter even said Coach's feels like a hometown version of "Cheers."
